Despite being one of the club’s most consistent players in the last two seasons, Rise and Shine have decided to let the experienced defender go. Thapelo Tshilo, Randy Ngobe, Donald Mokondelela, Rendani Ndou and Nazier Jacobs have also parted ways with the club.
“I am not in the plans in the team going forward, Semenya tells snl24.com/kickoff. “They told me a few days ago on Monday. Teams do things differently. Maybe they were still thinking about it [whether or not to let him go].”
The former Platinum Stars defender played every minute of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season and missed just four matches during the last campaign.
“I had a good time at Polokwane City. I was closer to home and my kids have settled well there,” the 35-year-old says.
“I don’t regret joining them. Actually it was the best move for me after I left Platinum Stars. I had my best two seasons there. I only missed four games last season and I played every minute in the season before that.”
Semenya says he will not rush to make a decision about his future, as he has to think about his family.
“I don’t have to make rash decisions. I don’t want to make a move that is going to compromise family and your happines. You have to consider a lot of things before making a decision.”
