Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele recently told snl24.com/kickoff that the club were in discussions about his future, following the appointment of head coach Wedson Nyirenda.
Mphahlele said Nyirenda, who brought in his own assistant and goalkeeper coach, has never worked with a technical director before, leaving Khumalo’s position in doubt.
Khumalo joined Baroka last season from Kaizer Chiefs, forming part of Kgoloko Thobejane’s technical team. He worked closely with the coach and many were praising him during the side's strong start to the season.
A statement sent by the club reads as follows: "After months of speculation Doctor Khumalo and Baroka FC have finally agreed to go separate ways. As Baroka Football Club, we will like to wish Doctor Khumalo well in his future endeavours."
