Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael unsure if Kaizer Chiefs comments were a factor

Eymael last week confirmed Chiefs and SuperSport United had enquired about his services through his agent, having previously stated he would only consider offers should they come in before pre-season starts.

With Ea Lla Koto reassembling yesterday, Eymael insists he is committed to honouring his contract with the Nedbank Cup champions.

Asked if his public comments may have deterred Chiefs, Eymael tells snl24.com/kickoff: "I don't know anything about [that]. I said before I left that I had an agreement with Free State Stars ... that if they don't decide before the holidays, I promised Free State Stars that I'll go back to Free State Stars.

"So I don't know if they want to search for excuses, I don't know. Because me, personally, I didn't get any call from Kaizer Chiefs.

"Yes, my agent had too many things; too many things also with SuperSport United.

"There's a procedure to respect. I'm still committed to Free State Stars [with my contract] that has a buyout clause.

"If you want someone you have to approach the club. I don't know if they called the club or did not call the club.

"Me, I know what I said to Rantsi Mokoena [Stars general manager] and to the Mokoena family. I said if nothing comes during or before the holidays that I'll go back to Free State Stars.

"If now people want to quantify me with different names, you've got to be responsible for what they are saying, because I'll never say something personal. I'll never say something on anybody if I'm not sure about what I'm saying and if I don't really know the person. Because to judge a person you have got to live with the person.

"That's all I have to say. Like I said, I'm committed to Free State Stars with a contract of one year and I want to respect what I said."

Meanwhile, the Belgian says he missed Stars' first training session as he is recovering from eye surgery.

"I had the surgery on Monday on my eyes and it is the reason why I'm not back in South Africa," Eymael says.

"... I cannot travel because I'm not feeling very well. So we'll see if I come at the end of the week because it is very difficult for me because my eyes are closed.

"For the rest, nothing is special."
