Maccabi FC show their intent by holding onto Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma

The former Kaizer Chiefs man joined Maccabi in January and helped them gain promotion to the second tier via the ABC Motsepe League play-offs. Mbesuma, who plundered a record 35 goals for Chiefs in 2004/05, last played PSL football with Highlands Park in their ill-fated 2016/17 campaign. Recently Maccabi coach Mokete Tsotetsi, a former Jomo Cosmos and Chiefs defender, said he wants to hold onto Mbesuma for when they compete in the NFD. "We have agreed verbally that Collins Mbesuma will stay with the club next season," says Maccabi manager James Ndlovu. "He is currently training with the club at the moment." Ndlovu also dismissed rumours that Jacob Sakala is replacing Mokete Tsotetsi as head coach this coming campaign. "That's a big no! Mokete Tsotetsi is still our coach."
