Chances of the right-back playing regularly in the coming season are very slim, with Thapelo Morena and Anele Ngcongca competing fiercely for the position.
Ngcongca picked up some form towards the end of last season and will no doubt be pushing to get more game-time than he did last term.
Zwane was loaned out to Ajax Cape Town for the second half of 2016/17, where he played 11 matches in all competitions for the now relegated Urban Warriors.
Before being despatched to Ajax, Zwane only managed to play four matches in the first half of the campaign for Pitso Mosimane’s side.
According to an informant, Zwane has not joined Sundowns for pre-season camp and could be set for another loan move during the transfer window.
His former club Golden Arrows are said to be interested in bringing him back on a short-term deal for the upcoming season.
Zwane joined Sundowns in 2014 after Arrows were relegated to the National First Division and has not been able to command a regular place in the team since then.
The 33-year-old is certainly not the only one who will be loaned out or let go by Sundowns, with the likes of Cuthbert Malajila, Mogakolodi Ngele, Yannick Zakri and Fares Hachi likewise set for exits.
