Mamelodi Sundowns want clubs to make offers that respect them as an institution

Tau wants to make a move to Europe and English Premier League side Brighton Hove and Albion are said to have put an offer on the table for the Bafana Bafana international.

Tau had not reported for camp when the rest of the team assembled on Sunday, as he looks to push for a move abroad during this transfer window.

“When clubs want to engage Mamelodi Sundowns about players, they know the channels and they know how to approach, with respect. When you want to buy something, you must show that you want it. When you want to buy something, you must commit and show respect in your approach,” Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa said.

“We are happy with the interest and where it’s coming from. We’ve maintained that interest should come from the top five leagues. The coach said that and we stick to that. We want Percy to go to a top team. It’s been a while since South African players were exported to top teams. We want to send our players to top leagues and to clubs that respect them and the process.”

He added: “There’s no fight with Percy Tau. We don’t fight with our own kids. All we want is for the process to be respected and for people to make the right offers for our players. Offers that respect the league and our pedigree as Sundowns. Percy will go overseas. We love him too much for us to stand in his way.”
