Stars will be relocating to Cape Town and will be named Cape Umoya United when they compete in the National First Division in the coming season, but there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the players and staff members. It’s not even clear when pre-season will start, according to an informant.
snl24.com/kickoff has been told that there are a number of players who will be released by the club while others are not keen on moving to Cape Town.
A few of the players have their children in schools in Rustenburg and it will be difficult to find new schools at this time of the year.
“The coach is at the World Cup and players don’t know anything about their futures. It’s a mess. Of the 25 staff members, only two will be kept. About 70 percent of the players will not be with the club,” an insider tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Players received a letter which was dated June 1, saying they would be informed about their futures, but they only received them on June 10. Imagine people don’t know what’s happening and they have families. The players are going to suffer. It’s a mess.”
Captain Vuyo Mere recently told this website that he is unsure of his future because the club has not been communicating with players.
De Sa is part of a consortium that bought Dikwena in January for R22.5 million, following months of speculation.
