Rakoti was set to join UTA Arad after successful trials with the Romanian team late last year but the deal could not go through after both parties failed to agree on a contract.
The Matatiele-born defender's trials in Romania were facilitated by agent Herve Tra Bi, who also helped former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Chris Matombo secure a deal in Malta with Qormi FC.
According to a source close to Highlands Park, Rakoti is doing well during his assessment and has already featured in friendlies against Orlando Pirates and Maccabi FC.
"He is top-class defender. He was part of the Maluti [FET College] team that eliminated Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup a few years ago," the source tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"So far he is doing well during his trials and the team is expected to make a call if they will sign him or not very soon."
