Rooi Mahamutsa waiting in the wings as Free State Stars prepare for 2018/19

The 36-year-old's contract with the club expires on Saturday.

Despite his advancing years, Mahamutsa made 25 appearances in all competitions for Ea Lla Koto last term.

"I haven't even gone back there," Mahamutsa tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I haven't opened [talks] yet, I'm still deciding. I'm waiting for Mike at the moment, he is still busy with other things so I thought I shouldn't put too much pressure on him. I'm training by myself."

Meanwhile, Belgian coach Luc Eymael will only link up with Stars once he is further along in his recovery from the eye surgery he had last week.

He tells snl24.com/kickoff: "I don't want to send you a pic because people will mock me, but I had surgery on the eyes last Monday you know. I didn't know that my eyes would be swollen like that and I stayed three days with my eyes completely closed, so blind because of the surgery. Since Thursday my eyes are opening but very, very, very little.

"I took stitches out on Saturday but they forgot to take two stitches out. So I went back again to take out the last two stitches. But my eyes are opening a little bit better, still swollen a lot. So it's the reason I cannot travel now because if for example I am at [passport] control ... I will have problems because my passport pic and my face. Now even those who knows me will not recognise me. I don't want to have problems because I have very bad eyes like that.

"I currently cannot drive also. I think I will be able to drive on Wednesday. So I will take the plane on Friday."

Eymael also reiterated he plans to see out his contract in Bethlehem. He has been linked with both the Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United jobs.

"Like I said, I'm committed again with one year at Free State Stars. I'm very happy there. As I told you if nothing came before the holidays are finished I will then go back to Free State Stars. So now the holidays are finished and I'm going back to Free State Stars.

"I cannot let down the people despite all the rumours that your newspaper, your website or other websites wrote on me. Rumours that created some problems, some issues ... And no we will be back at Free State, no problem for me.

"Like you see we are reinforcing the team a bit and it's a good thing, two or three players have to arrive. We will go to camp on the first of July and I will be there for the camp."
