SuperSport United have started pre-season with coaching candidate Kaitano Tembo

Tembo was appointed as caretaker coach by Matsatsantsa in March following the departure of Eric Tinkler, who was struggling to get positive results at the club.

Tembo, a former Zimbabwean national team defender, helped the club survive relegation.

He took charge of the side’s first pre-season training session in Johannesburg today.

Matsatsantsa spokesperson David ‘Mazolman’ Skhosana says it’s no surprise that Tembo was in charge of training this morning and did not rule out the possibility of him being the man in the hotseat when the campaign gets underway.

"Yes, it’s true Kaitano was in charge of training today. We just opened [for pre-season] this morning," said Skhosana.

"There is no surprise. You must also not forget that Kaitano is also in the running for the position."

'Mazolman' also revealed that they will make a decision on the future of Mogakolodi Ngele, who was on loan from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the second half of last season. The club will decide if they want to bring him back.
