The 34-year-old made his PSL debut in 2001 for Hellenic and has enjoyed a successful 17-year in the topflight.
He recently told snl24.com/kickoff that his future with Platinum Stars - which have been renamed Cape Umoya United and are moving to Cape Town - is uncertain.
But whether or not he stays at the recently relegated club, Mere says he still feels fresh and can keep going for a long time.
“As long as God breathes life into me, I will keep going. I still feel fresh. I can’t just let my mouth do the talking, I will let my performances do the talking,” says the former Mamelodi Sundowns man.
“But God knows, as long as he is on my side. I can’t say I give myself four or five years, when maybe my God has more time for me, so I can’t put a time limit on my career.
“It’s a matter of how you live your life, how you behave and how you take care of your body. I still feel fresh and I can still do the job in this industry.
“People will talk, but if I allow them to get into my head then they are going to kill me. I am still going to enjoy my time in football and I am going to play this game wholeheartedly.”
