Wedson Nyirenda has the challenge of leading Baroka FC to a cup final

Nyirenda, the former Zambian national team coach, has been tasked to reach a cup final and finish in the top eight in the coming season.

Nyirenda is no stranger to reaching cup finals and, more importantly, winning silverware, but the challenge at Baroka is likely to be harder than it was at Zesco United and Zanaco.

“Our reason for hiring Wedson is that he was the best candidate on the list of applications. His CV speaks volumes and he has achieved a lot in a short space of time. He is the best person to assist our team going forward,” Mphahlele tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“We had about 12 CVs, from both local and international coaches. He is the one who had achieved more success in recent years. The others had also achieved in their career, but their success was a long time ago.

“We want the team to be sustainable and to be competitive in the PSL. We don’t want to talk about relegation. We want to talk about achieving gold. We want our team to be part of the awards. If we can reach one final and be in the top eight I will be satisfied.”
