The four-time world footballer of the year will design and promote his special edition scooter after signing a deal with Dutch Space Scooter.
The scooter has been a hit with kids as well as young adults all over the world who have taken to the unique patent movement mechanism that involves moving a foot pedal up and down, causing the built-in chain to power the wheels forward.
Easy2.Company, the licence holders of Space Scooter have been looking for the right public figure to grow the product further on a global level. MD Joost Blom believes the company have found the perfect match with Messi.
“He is loved all over the world, sympathetic, athletic and is a great example for many children when it comes to what you can accomplish in your life, if only you believe in yourself," he stated.
“He immediately liked the Space Scooter. Until now he did nothing with the promotion of toys and kids, so it was an ideal cooperation for both sides. Messi and his nephews are already riding the scooters themselves," says Blom.
The ‘Messi Space Scooter’ will be launched during the 2014 World Cup and will be available for purchase from Messi’s website amongst other retailers.
