It has been confirmed that a 40-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns star will captain his country at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Elias Gaspar Pelembe, also known as Dominguez, will lead Mozambique at the continental tournament that will kick off on 13 January 2024.

Pelembe made the move to South Africa in 2007, where he represented SuperSport United, before joining the Brazilians in 2009.
The four-time DStv Premiership winner also spent time playing for fellow PSL sides Bidwest Wits, Polokwane City and Royal AM.
The man who currently represents Mozambican club UD Songo will appear at AFCON for only the second time, having last appeared in the competition as a 26-year-old in 2010.
Last week, it was confirmed he was selected in the 23-man squad to travel to the Ivory Coast for the continental showpiece, along with Kaizer Chiefs star Edmilson Dove, who will be making his AFCON debut.
The Mambas have been drawn in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Ghana, and will kick off their campaign against the Pharaohs on 14 January.
