CAF has now officially confirmed the preliminary draw of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
On Tuesday afternoon, African football's organising body conducted the draw for the eight lowest-ranked CAF nations set to take part in the preliminary qualification stage of the 35th edition of AFCON, which will take place in Morocco next year.

The preliminary stage will see the eight teams compete in a two-legged knockout tie, with the four winners of those fixtures set to progress to the group stage – the draw for which will be confirmed at a later date – alongside 44 other nations.
Among the ties thrown up, Somalia, who are ranked 198th in the world by FIFA, will face off against COSAFA minnows Eswatini, who lie 149th on the world rankings, while Chad will do battle against Mauritius, and Sao Tome are set to go up against South Sudan.

The matches will be played on a two-legged basis during the FIFA international window between 18 and 26 March.
