A national team previously linked with South African coach Pitso Mosimane could reportedly part ways with their current manager after the 2023 Africa Cup of nations.
According to Nigerian outlet The Guardian, The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said that current Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro's job will be under review depending on how well the national side performs at this year's AFCON.

Peseiro has, however, led the Super Eagles to AFCON qualification and that is said to be why his contract — which was supposed to expire in June 2023 — was renewed, according to NFF president Ibrahim Gusau.
"When the contract was signed the Africa Cup of Nations was to hold between June and July, last year. But unfortunately, the hosts, Cote d'Ivoire, were not ready for the competition, hence it was shifted to January. It was a very difficult situation for us," Gusau said on Tuesday per The Guardian.
"Fortunately, it was stated clearly that the contract will end on July 31, 2023. The coach's lawyer argued that he has a contract for the Nations Cup, which he qualified us and also to take us to the semifinals. So, we cannot break it. We argued that nobody envisaged that the Nations Cup would be shifted.
The NFF president also confirmed that Peseiro took a pay cut to stay in the position.
"After going back and forth, we agreed to renegotiate the contract because $70,000 (approximately R1.3 million) was too difficult for us to pay. We eventually agreed to review the salary to $50,000 (around R932 437)."
Gusau also hinted at major shakeups within the national team setup if their AFCON campaign turns out to be a disappointing one.
"Some of the players won the U-17 World Cup and they are anxious of taking the AFCON, which I think they can do. If they fail, then that would be a sign that there is something seriously wrong with our football."

Mosimane, meanwhile, was linked to the Super Eagles job late last year and even received the stamp of approval by former Nigerian star Jay-Jay Okocha who labelled him as "one of the best coaches in Africa".
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach also admitted to considering taking the job if it were to be offered to him.
