Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and his national team Nigeria have reportedly spent more than 12 hours stranded at an airport in Libya ahead of their next 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
On Friday last week, Nigeria claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The match took place in Uyo in Nigeria, but the Libyan national team made some complaints about how they were treated upon their arrival in the country.
The two teams are set to meet again on Tuesday night, but it now appears that the Super Eagles are being subjected to a cold welcome by authorities in Libya.
According to Nigerian outlet Brila, the 2023 AFCON runners-up were forced to spend more than 12 hours stuck inside an airport in Al Abraq.
The west African giants were initially on a flight headed for Benghazi, but their plane was unexpectedly diverted to Al Abraq, a city located more than two hours from their intended destination.
It is reported that Libyan authorities locked the visiting team inside the airport, leaving them without transport and assistance on a way forward.
Moreover, airport staff claim that the delay was orchestrated by high-ranking authorities, while no member of the Libyan Football Federation was present to assist the Nigerian team either.
Nigeria defender Leon Balogun was left furious by the whole situation, calling on CAF to investigate the matter.
"Hey @CAF_Online – surely you're going to investigate thoroughly and take action, right? Whoever is responsible for this needs to be held accountable. This is unacceptable," Balogun wrote on X.
in the latest on the situation, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has insisted that they will not play the game, via a post on X, writing: "At this point we have called for our Nigerian Government to intervene and rescue us. As the captain together with the team we have decided that we will NOT play this game. CAF should look at the report and what is happening here. Even if they decide to allow this kind of behaviour, let them have the points. We will not accept to travel anywhere by road here even with security it's not safe. We can only imagine what the hotel or food would be like given to us IF we continued."

A win for Nigeria on Tuesday will guarantee them a spot at the AFCON next year in Morocco.
