African Football Unfiltered had the honour of having former head coach of the Mozambican national team, Abel Luís da Silva Costa Xavier, as its first guest to speak not only about his esteemed playing career in Europe, but also to delve into his experiences on the world's second largest continent.
While he spent the majority of his life growing up and living in Europe, the Sporting CP academy product returned to Africa to pursue a coaching career, and according to him, it has so far been a success.
The Nampula native claims to have laid the foundation for a Mozambique side that has now managed to qualify for two consecutive Africa Cup of Nations.
To date, Os Mambas is the only national team head coaching position he has held, and since 2019, he has been out of football management, but he did also spill the beans on his interest in the Bafana Bafana job.
