Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena has reportedly not received his salary for several months at the Botola Pro League giants.
Mokwena started his tenure at the Moroccan club at the start of the season alongside his fellow countrymen Allan Freese, Sinethemba Badela, and goalkeeper coach Sean Louw.
The quartet of South African men entered into three-year contracts with the three-time CAF Champions League champions, tasked with improving the club after they finished sixth in the 2023/24 season.
Recently, Wydad has been struggling with their performance, leading to speculation about Mokwena's potential dismissal. However, it seems that the coach will remain until the end of the season.
Nonetheless, a report from SABC Sport indicates that Mokwena has not been paid for eight months. The report has also alleged that the coach has acquired personal equipment at his own cost for training sessions.
Furthermore, the public broadcaster has disclosed that Mokwena's coaching staff, comprising Freese, Badela, and Louw, have also not received their payments since arriving.
A similar predicament occurred with former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane while at Esteghlal. The experienced coach and his loyal staff went for several months without payment before their departure.
It has been reported that Mokwena, the 38-year-old coach, has not yet authorized his representatives to contact FIFA regarding the contract violation by Wydad, as he seems inclined to continue with the club.
