Zamalek's next manager revealed?

Egyptian giants Zamalek have reportedly concluded their search for a new manager.

The club have been without a head coach since the departure of Jesualdo Ferreira in March.

Zamalek have endured a difficult season that could see them go trophyl-ess after the side were knocked out of the CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup, and League Cup as well as losing the Super Cup to rivals Al Ahly.

This resulted in the club's hierarchy accelerating the process of finding someone new to takeover the helm.

KingFut are now reporting that club president Mortada Mansour has decided to hire the former Bayer Leverkusen manager Heiko Herrlich.

Ex-Pyramids FC boss Takis Gonias was believed to be a frontrunner for the vacancy, but it appears that the team have gone with the German manager.

Herrlich is said to have accepted an offer from the Egyptian side and has been spotted at Cairo airport ahead of more talks.

Although, it must be said that the manager has not put pen to paper yet.

Herrlich previously held a number of high-profile jobs which saw him work with German national team's under 17's and 19's while he also had spells in the Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich ranks.
