It is reported that the Egyptian Premier League side's board of directors has assigned a legal team to defend and advise the player during investigations.

It is alleged Fatouh was driving at high speeds with a passenger, Zamalek teammate Mohamed Sobhy, when he lost control of his car and drove into a policeman.

It is understood an ambulance arrived to transport the body of the officer to a nearby hospital, where his death was confirmed.

The players were said to then be arrested, with the fullback still being detained by police while the goalkeeper was released as he was not driving the car.

Zamalek spokesperson Ahmed Salem stated on social media: "Ahmed Fatouh has been detained for four days pending investigations."

Meanwhile, the Egyptian giants have opened up lines of communications with dialogue with the country's Ministry of Youth and Sports in an attempt to make amends with the family and pay them "blood money" (compensation for his death).

Salem, who was speaking on MBC Masr, confirmed that this what the club is currently trying to do.

"I hope that we reach an agreement with the family of the deceased in the Ahmed Fatouh accident to reconcile or pay blood money because the accident falls under the category of manslaughter," the club's spokesperson, said per news site Vetogate
