Al Ahly's replacement for Tau revealed?

With Percy Tau being linked with a move away from Al Ahly, the Egyptian giants have now reportedly identified a potential replacement for him.

Several clubs are reported to have tabled offers for the forward, but because those bids have ranged from between $750 000 (around R13 million) to $1 million (R18 million), the Red Devils are believed to have deemed them as weak.

It has been claimed that the 12-time CAF Champions League winners are willing to listen to offers of between $2 million (R36 million) and $3 million (R54 million) for the former Brighton Hove Albion star.

With Tau's contract set to come to an end in 2025, much speculation has surrounded the attacker's, with it believed that some in the Egyptian club's hierarchy want him to stay while others would prefer to move the player on.

Al Ahly manager Marcel Koller, however, is said to have given the go-ahead for Tau's departure, provided the club provide a suitable replacement.

Now, it seems as though they have found someone who could take over the winger's position in Tala'ea El Gaish SC forward Youssry Wahid, according to Egyptian media personality Mohamed Al-Laithi, via Ahly News

Speaking on Egyptian radio, he stated that the side's hierarchy has offered Wahid to Koller, but added that a final decision on his signing must still be made.

"There is a strong conviction on the part of the Al Ahly club management in the capabilities of Youssry Wahid, but the final decision will be made by the technical staff to decide the player's fate in wearing the red shirt," Al-Laithi said.

Tau, who is currently on the sidelines after suffering a second-degree hamstring strain while on international duty with Bafana Bafana, is considered by some to have underperformed over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.
