Onana escorted by security after Uganda fan chaos

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana needed to be privately escorted by security officials after Ugandan fans stormed upon the player while he was leaving the stadium after Cameroon's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.

Despite ongoing off-field turmoil in the Cameroon national team set-up, the Indomitable Lions now have a few positives to point out after they went unbeaten in this international break.

The west African giants claimed a 1-0 win over Namibia last week in their first AFCON 2025 qualifier, before settling for a 0-0 draw with Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

The latter match took place in Uganda due to Zimbabwe not having a facility to host matches that is in line with CAF and FIFA's stadium requirements.

With the match ending goalless, Onana appeared to have grabbed all the attention after the game as Ugandan spectators seemed overly keen to interact with the player.

In a video posted by Ugandan journalist Clive Kyazze, the Red Devils shot-stopper can be seen leaving the stadium in Kampala, but his efforts to make a quiet exit are halted by a swarm of passionate supporters, which is said to have prevented him from leaving with the team bus like the rest of his colleagues.

Meanwhile, Onana was recently warned by former United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard that he needs to pull up his socks this season after a difficult debut campaign at Old Trafford.

"Onana has come back from a difficult start and now he is doing a lot better. But there's no magic formula to overcome that pressure. That is the job," Lindegaard told The Sun.

"The job is to handle that pressure. If you can't do it, or you won't do it, the job is not for you."
