OFFICIAL: Benni leaves Man Utd, replacement confirmed

Manchester United have announced the departure of Benni McCarthy, who has now been replaced by a Red Devils legend.

The South African tactician is officially a free agent as he leaves Old Trafford following the expiry of his contract with the club.

McCarthy joined the Manchester outfit in 2022 as part of Erik ten Hag's staff and was in charges of coaching the attackers.

The Red Devils have confirmed that Mitchell van der Gaag has also left, with Rene Hake and former United star Ruud van Nistelrooy appointed to the technical staff.

Ten Hag also gave his best wishes to Van der Gaag and McCarthy for their work in the past two years with the Red Devils.

"Mitchell has decided that now is the right time for him to pursue his own ambitions in a number one position," Ten Hag told the club's official website.

"I want to pay tribute to his fantastic service over the past two years, and also to Benni for his important contributions.

"We send them our thanks and best wishes for the future."
