Burnley boss speaks on Foster's progress

Burnley boss Scott Parker has spoken on the progress of Lyle Foster, who has recently had to endure a spell on the side-lines after being ruled out with injury.

The 24-year-old striker suffered a knock to his left knee in Bafana Bafana's commanding 5-0 win over Congo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in October.

Initial assessments suggested he could return after the November international break. However, subsequent scans indicated that Foster required additional time to recover.

Speaking ahead of Burnley's EFL Championship fixture against Stoke City on Saturday, Parker provided an optimistic update on the attacker's rehabilitation.

"There's good signs with a few of the lads," Parker said during the pre-match press conference.

"Joe [Worrall], Lyle [Foster], and Hannes [Delcroix] are all progressing nicely and have been out on the grass," he added.

Parker also emphasised the importance of gradually building Foster and his teammates back to match fitness.

"It's just about getting game time now, which is key for them," the coach said.

"Getting minutes for the U21s and then building that back up to match fitness."

Foster, who has been instrumental for Burnley this season, will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the squad as they push for a return to the Premier League.

The Clarets are currently in strong form, riding a three-match winning streak in the EFL Championship, and a victory against Stoke City on Saturday could propel them back into the automatic promotion spots.
