Tau's Al Ahly seal CAF CL semi-final spot

Al Ahly progressed to the CAF Champions League semi-finals after 3-0 aggregate win over Simba SC in the quarter-final round.

Bafana Bafana's Percy Tau was named on the bench, as Antony Modeste and Amr Al-Sulaya after winning the first-leg last weekend by a slender margin.

Modeste seemed to have put the host ahead with a first-time finish from a tight angle in the box, but it was ruled out after the Frenchman had strayed offside.

Simba looked promising on the ball a little later and gave the host lots of problems on the counter-attack as well as on the third-man runs in the channels.

The clash remained quite even throughout the course of the first spell, and had them go to the halftime period on an even footing.

Ahly did go in front a minute past the interval when Al-Sulaya bombed in a clever space and angle around the box and finished off Modeste's delivery.

Modeste continued to unsettle the visitors and nearly got on the score-sheet after he steered narrowly past the bottom-corner from the head.

It remained the host with all the momentum later on in the contest, with Hussein El Shahat along with Modeste, Al-Sulaya causing loads of problems.

Pacey fullback Ali Maaloul was a menace down the left and had countless freedom whenever on the attack before he very nearly profited from a tight angle wide of the box.

Ahly made a double change in the hope of more goals after Kahraba and Taher Mohamed hauled on the park.

The second did come deep in additional time when a coming-together in the area led to a penalty and Kahraba made no mistake with the subsequent spot-kick, as it finished 2-0 on the evening.
