CAF sent bold POTY warning!

With Ademola Lookman in the running against the likes of Ronwen Williams, Achraf Hakimi and others for the CAF 2024 Player of the Year award, CAF's been warned about what would happen if the Nigerian does not win.

The Atalanta star was nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or award, and finished 14th in the race for what is considered by many to be the most coveted individual trophy in world football.

His success, though, may not end there as he was also named among the nominees for the the African POTY award.

His nomination comes after a 2023/24 campaign that saw him score a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final to help his side beat Bayer Leverkusen to a continental triumph.

Along with electrifying displays, the attacker amassed 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

He also played an important role in Nigeria's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, helping the side reach the final where they lost out to Ivory Coast.

Now, according to Super Eagles Team Coordinator Patrick Pascal, Lookman is the clear favourite to take the award home.

"If Ademola Lookman doesn't win this CAF award, journalists will finish CAF. The whole world will finish them," he said per Brila.

"What are you going to tell people? So Ademola Lookman stands a good chance to win."

Those feelings are shared by former Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi, who has previously claimed that "CAF should prepare the trophy for him," because "he truly is the finest player in Africa right now."
