European club 'wants' Tau!

A European club now reportedly wants to sign Percy Tau as speculation continues to surround the Al Ahly star's future.

The South African has been linked with a move away from the Cairo-based club throughout the current transfer window in what has become a saga, with clubs in Africa and the Middle East said to have previously been interested in his services.

This comes after Red Devils head coach Marcel Koller reportedly told the club's hierarchy that he would approve the 30-year-old's sale so that another foreign player could be brought in as a replacement.

Recently, Tau was linked with a move to second-tier Saudi Arabian side NEOM SC, but that club later stated that they had no desire to sign the 2023 CAF Men's Interclub Player of the Year

Now, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm, who cited reports from Turkey, the Egyptian giants are still looking to offload the Bafana Bafana star, and serious interest has arrived from Super Lig side Sivasspor.

It is claimed the Turkish top-flight side sees the signing of the former Mamelodi Sundowns star as an opportunity to bolster their squad as they look to improve on their previous campaign that saw them finish seventh on the league table.

The same reports states that Tau was suggested to the club by his agents, and that the Turkish club's technical staff are "largely convinced" by the player and his abilities.

Furthermore, according to btolat, an insider at the Super Lig club said: "We are already looking for a right winger before the market closes. Percy Tau is one of the candidates to join the team. The transfer committee at Sivasspor is already discussing the deal."

The South Africa international, meanwhile, is also believed to have been reluctant to leave the Cairo outfit, with reports suggesting he is opting to fight to be paid out the remainder of his contract before he will agree to leave the club in this window, which closes on 30 September in Egypt.
