Ex-Ahly star makes big Tau claim

A former Al Ahly star has now made a big claim about South Africa international Percy Tau's future at the club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been linked with a move away from the Cairo International Stadium, with it being reported that rivals Zamalek are waiting on the player to reveal to them his "final position" on his future with Ahly, while other clubs are believed to remain interested in securing his services too, including Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Athletic Club and Kaizer Chiefs.

This comes after the player reportedly fell out with Red Devils manager Marcel Koller following reports that he had informed the Egyptian champions' hierarchy that he would approve the former Brighton Hove Albion star's sale in this window.

However, ex-Ahly midfielder Ahmed Abou Moslem is confident the Bafana Bafana forward will, in fact, still be in the Egyptian capital next season due to the number of other players that will be departing club.

The former star revealed that defender Mohamed Abdelmonem is close to joining French outfit OGC Nice, with a financial agreement between the two parties now said to be in place, and also went on to suggest that a move for midfielder Ahmed Abdel Kader from the Red Devils to Qatar SC is "possible at the current stage".

It is due to these factors that Abou Moslem sees Tau staying at the club beyond this window.

"There is also a case from Marcel Koller regarding Percy Tau during the past period, and the Swiss coach does not easily forget some things," the former Egypt international, said per Masr Times

"I think it is difficult for Percy Tau to leave at the current stage with the departure of more than one player and the possibility of Taher leaving as well, but the rising youngster Mohamed Abdullah will have a big role and his start is promising.

"There will certainly be strong support in light of the number of players leaving Al Ahly, and I have confidence in Percy Tau staying with the team, and deleting that he is a player on the team due to his anger during the recent period."
