Ex-Al Ahly star: Percy Tau shouldn't play next game

A former Al Ahly star has insisted that South Africa's Percy Tau should not be involved in the Egyptian giants' next match.

The 11-time CAF Champions League winners are preparing to take on Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds in the FIFA Club World Cup's third-place play-off after losing 2-0 to Brazil's Fluminense in the semi-finals earlier this week.

The Red Devils have had a packed fixture schedule as they try balancing participating in their domestic competitions as well as in the CAF Champions League, where they sit top of Group D, level on points with Tanzanian outfit Young Africans SC.

Additionally, the Egyptian giants also competed in the inaugural African Football League, which kicked off in October and ran into November. The side made the semi-finals of the competition, where they were knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns, losing 1-0 on aggregate.

Now, as the team gets ready for its final game at the CWC, fatigue and exhaustion have risen as a concern.

Former Al Ahly player Ramadan El Sayed has suggested that head coach Marcel Koller adjust his starting line-up for the match against the Red Diamonds set to take place on Friday afternoon, with Tau being included on his list of players that should be replaced.

"Kohler must make changes within the limits of four to five players, to avoid physical exhaustion against Urawa Reds," El Sayed said on television, per Al Masry Al Youm

"Al Ahly performed well in the Club World Cup against Fluminense, but Kohler had to make four substitutions at the start of the second half... then Al Ahly would have maintained its level.

"Akram Tawfik, Emam Ashour, Hussein El Shahat, Percy Tau, and Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba made a great effort, and fatigue appeared on them early in the second half.

"Percy Tau, Hussein El Shahat, and Emam Ashour, there must be consideration to replace them in the Urawa Reds match.

"Also, [Ali] Maaloul may be asked to do so. Replacing him, because he was used up. Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour and Aliou Dieng are the most suitable to lead Al Ahly's midfield against Urawa Reds.
