FCSB boss reacts to Ngezana injury blow

With Siyabonga Ngezana having been stretchered off early during FCSB's UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday, his manager has reacted to the Bafana Bafana star's latest injury blow.

FCSB settled for a 0-0 draw against Greek giants Olympiacos, as the two sides met for the first time in their history in European club competitions.

Ngezana started his third successive match in the Europa League; however, his time on the pitch was abruptly halted after sustaining an injury with just under half an hour played.

The South African star was replaced by fellow centre-back Joyskim Dawa, while FCSB boss Elias Charalambous revealed after the match that Ngezana would undergo tests to determine the true extent of his injury, according to DigiSport.

Reacting to the draw, Charalambous said: "We knew very well which team we were playing with, it is the winner of last year's Conference League. We played a high-quality match, and I am very proud of my students.

"In such matches we knew that the details make the difference, we knew that the team that will score will win the match."

Speaking on the former Kaizer Chiefs defender's new setback, Charalambous added: "For now we don't know Ngezana's situation, he has to do some checks tomorrow and we will see the diagnosis.

"We know Dawa very well, and he gives apples to everything. The only thing I want to convey to the players is that I am very proud of them."

Notably, Ngezana was also brought off the pitch due to a suspected injury during Bafana's 3-0 win over South Sudan on 19 November.

However, that setback seemed minor as he played the full 90 minutes in a Romanian SuperLiga game against Unirea Slobozia on 24 November, helping his team to a 3-0 win.
