After the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, a politician has made reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup a top priority.

This follows a disastrous campaign in Group F, where the team finished bottom of the standings with three points, recording three losses and three draws.
The team's poor form comes on the heels of another underwhelming performance at the most recent AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Now, new Edubiase Member of Parliament Adams Abdul-Salam is vowing to reverse the tide by making the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification his administration's top footballing priority.
The Ghanaian politician has assured Ghanaians that the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, under President-elect John Dramani Mahama, will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the Black Stars book their place at the 2026 WC.
"President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government are determined to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 World Cup," Abdul-Salam told Asempa FM per GhanaSoccerNet.
"We did not qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament, but we will work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by providing them with the necessary resources to ensure the team secures qualification. It is our biggest objective."
