Ghanaian footballer found dead after earthquake in Turkey

Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu has been found dead at the age of 31 following the earthquake in Turkey.

There had been reports that Atsu had been found after the devastating earthquake hit the Southern part of Turkey a couple weeks ago, although those reports were untrue.

The player's manager confirmed the new on Saturday after Atsu's body was recovered.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu's body was recovered this morning My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support," agent Nana Sechere said, as per the Mirror.

"I ask that whilst we make the necessary arrangements, that everyone would please respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time."

Atsu represented the likes of FC Porto, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Newcastle United before making the switch to Turkey in 2021.
