Micho sends ex-Bucs coach special message

Following Simba coach Fadlu Davids' recent continental success, his former boss at Orlando Pirates, Milutin "Micho" Sredojevic, has sent him a special message.

The Reds of Msimbazi secured their spot in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup when they beat Libyan outfit Al Ahly Tripoli by three goals to one on aggregate in their second preliminary round tie.

With the first leg ending in a goalless draw, Simba suffered an early setback when Mabululu found the back of the net in the 17th minute to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.

However, the hosts struck back in the 30th minute courtesy of a goal by forward Kibu Denis, with Leonel Ateba and Edwin Balua also getting their names on the scoresheet to help their side emerge victorious.

Sredojevic has since congratulated the South African tactician on his team's performance to reach the CAFCC proper.

"It was a tough game, but Simba responded well after conceding first," he said, per Tanzanian outlet Daily News

"I congratulate them, especially their coach Fadlu Davids, who was my assistant at Orlando Pirates."

The 43-year-old was initially appointed as the Serbian's assistant at Pirates in 2019, and following the head coach's departure, Davids then served under Rulani Mokwena and Josef Zinnbauer before becoming a co-coach alongside Mandla Ncikazi for the 2021/22 Premiership campaign.

Under the pair, the Buccaneers finished sixth in the league and made it all the way to the final of the CAFCC, where they lost to RS Berkane on penalties.
