New Zim stadium to have golden toilet seats 'inspired' by SA WC

Following the opening of a new stadium in Zimbabwe, the man behind the project has revealed his intention to install golden toilet seats at the venue, with his uncanny decision inspired by a certain request Diego Maradona made at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Zimbabwe have had a number of issues concerning the quality of their stadiums in recent times. The country's national teams have been forced to stage their official games outside of their borders due to many of their venues not meeting CAF and FIFA stadium facility requirements.

Perhaps more notably, Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos has also suggested that Zimbabwe and Rwanda should not be allowed to compete in World Cup qualifiers due to their lack of proper facilities.

However, that is now being addressed to some degree by Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side Yadah FC founder and president Prophet Walter Magaya, who has declared that the country's senior men's national team will never have to play a home game outside their country again, according to Soccer24.

Magaya's stadium, which is called The Heart Stadium, was officially opened on Sunday and currently has a capacity of 5 000 seats, which will be expanded to 40 000 seats in the future.

Moreover, he has now imported golden toilet seats for the venue's dressing rooms, and has revealed that the inspiration to do so came from Maradona.

"During the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Argentine legend Diego Maradona had a special request," he wrote in a post on Facebook.

"The request was for premium toilet seats throughout the duration of the tournament.

"This shows that sports players have a level of comfort that they desire. We considered this as we constructed The Heart Stadium hence, we imported these golden heated toilet seats which shall be placed in every ablution area in the changing rooms.

"They arrived here during the evening on the 9th and shall be fully installed by January as we continue with our construction and perfection.

"Dividing cubicles are still on their way so that we at least create privacy in the toilets in a professional way."
