OFFICIAL: Al Ahly confirm new strike partner for Tau!

Al Ahly have now officially confirmed the signing of a new striker who will line up alongside talisman Percy Tau.

The 2022/23 CAF Champions League holders have announced the signing of French striker Anthony Modeste after he left Borussia Dortmund as a free agent.

The 35-year-old has penned a one-year deal with the Red Devils, with an option to extend for another season.

Modeste arrives as a direct replacement for Mohamed Sherif, who left the club in August in a €1.37 million (R27 million) move to Al Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League.

The French centre-forward joined Dortmund from German outfit Koln in August 2022, in a deal worth €5.1 million (R103 million).

However, his stay at Signal Iduna Park would last just 28 games, with the striker contributing only two goals and one assist in the process.

Ahead of his move to Al Ahly, though, Modeste insisted that joining BVB for just one season "was not a mistake".

In an interview with Sport1, the French striker said: "I understand that people might think that because my statistics were different in Dortmund, but for me BVB wasn't a mistake.

"It was a great challenge for me, I finally played in the Champions League. And I fought for the title until the last matchday, so where exactly was the mistake?"
