OFFICIAL: Full CHAN prelim draw revealed by CAF!

The draw for the 2024 African Nations Championship preliminary phase has now been revealed, with a handsome $2 million up for grabs!

The competition, which only allows locally-based players from respective nations to participate, will be played between 1 and 28 February 2025. with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania set to host it.

However, before the official tournament, qualification rounds are set to take place, with the first set to be played in October and November. 

The second round of qualifiers will then take place in December. 

Zones WAFU A, WAFU B, UNAF, UNIFFAC, and COSAFA will each have three qualifying teams.

Meanwhile, the CECAFA zone, which includes the three host countries, will receive an additional slot due to their automatic qualification as hosts.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will participate in the qualifiers, and in addition to their automatic qualification as hosts, the team achieving the best result in the CECAFA qualifiers will also advance to the final tournament.

Now, with the official draw having taken place, nations have discovered who they need to play – and beat – in order to qualify for the competition. 

There are some mouthwatering fixtures to look forward to, including clashes between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, as well as an encounter between continental giants Ghana and Nigeria.

Due to CAF's 60% increase in the tournament's prize money, the winner of the competition is set to walk away with handsome $2 million (R35 million).
