OFFICIAL: Raja confirm new boss after failed Ramovic talks

After their talks with TS Galaxy's Sead Ramovic came to an abrupt halt, Raja Club Athletic have since confirmed their new head coach following ex-Orlando Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer's exit.

The reigning Moroccan champions have announced that Bosnian manager Rusmir Cviko will be the man to lead the team in the 2024/25 season.

This decision comes after the Botola Pro 1 side failed to reach an agreement with the TS Galaxy manager, following speculation that his move to north Africa had already been sealed.

Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi had even confirmed Ramovic's departure, which seemed imminent at the time, and is believed to have already been looking at potential candidates who could replace the German tactician.

With the coach having been expected to fly to Morocco on Thursday to complete the move, though, new reports indicated that the deal was not finalised due to disagreements regarding the coaching staff.

It has been said that Raja wanted the 45-year-old to work with their backroom staff of their choice, but the coach refused and was adamant on bringing in his own people to assist him.

Cviko has since been chosen as the man to replace Zinnbauer, who will now be managing Saudi Pro League side Al Wehda.

Raja's new boss will now be expected to carry on the success of his predecessor, who last season guided the three-time CAF Champions League winners to a league title as well as a domestic cup, going unbeaten in the process.

The 52-year-old Cviko joins his new team after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Orubah in June.
