With Percy Tau being heavily linked to a transfer to Zamalek, a former Egyptian football star has expressed doubts about whether the move would benefit either the South African forward or the club.
Tau's future at Al Ahly has been clouded in speculation, with his contract nearing its end and reports suggesting that the Red Devils are keen to offload him during the January transfer window.

It has been claimed that Al Ahly offered the former Mamelodi Sundowns star $300 000 (R5.4 million) to mutually terminate his contract, allowing him to leave as a free agent in January.
However, it is believed that Tau declined the offer, reportedly insisting on receiving the full $600 000 (R10.8 million) stipulated in his current deal.
Adding to the uncertainty, the 30-year-old has yet to start a match in the Egyptian Premier League this season, having been limited to substitute appearances in all three of Al Ahly's fixtures so far.
Amid the rumours, former Zamalek midfielder Reda Abdel-Aal has shared his opinion on the matter.
He suggested that Tau's time in Egypt may have run its course and advised against a move to Zamalek or Pyramids FC, pointing to opportunities in the Gulf region as a more suitable next step.
"From my point of view, Percy Tau gave everything he had with the Al Ahly team in the past seasons and will not be technically useful to Zamalek or Pyramids, even if signed for free," Abdel-Aal said on the El-Bermo show.
"Percy Tau will look in the coming period to play in the Gulf in order to secure his future after retiring from football permanently."
