Ramovic points out improvement as title race against Fadlu heats up

After recording a third successive league victory, Young Africans SC manager Sead Ramovic has pointed out the improvements his side have made as the title race with Fadlu Davids' Simba SC heats up.

The Dar es Salaam-based outfit beat Tanzania Prisons by four goals to nil in an encounter at the KMC Stadium on Sunday, putting them in second position on the table.

Ramovic's side are now just one point behind rivals Simba who have drawn one and lost just one of their 13 Tanzania Premier League matches so far this season.

Yanga suffered their only two league defeats of the season prior to the former TS Galaxy coach's appointment. Despite losing two of the three CAF Champions League games he was in charge of, he is yet to taste defeat in the league.

Speaking after the match against Tanzania Prisons, the 45-year-old credited his players and pointed the area in which they managed to improve.

"All the credit goes to the players," he said per Daily News. "We have a squad of 20-23 players, and they have shown great improvement. Our fitness level has increased, and we are now able to maintain intensity for 60 to 70 minutes."

"Without the effort and willingness of the players, we would not have improved. They did a fantastic job, and I am absolutely proud to be their coach," he added.

Ramovic also went on to applaud the defensive solidity his side had shown during the match which restricted their opponents to having just one shot on target.

"Our goalkeeper only had to save one shot, which speaks volumes about our defensive work as a team. We were compact, we didn't let the opponent breath and kept them away from our goal," he said.

"We still have areas to work on, but overall, we are making the right steps forward. We are absolutely proud of our performance, and we are heading in the right direction," the tactician added.
