Amid reports of a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations boss being offered a new deal by one of the continent's biggest teams, a legend of the side has insisted the coach does not deserve it.
Jose Peseiro led Nigeria to an outstanding 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, guiding them to a second-place finish after losing 2-1 to Ivory Coast in the final of the continental showpiece.

His contract, however, came to an end last week, with the manager releasing a statement confirming he had officially parted ways with the national side.
For his efforts, the manager, along with the players, is said to have been rewarded a flat as well as a piece of land in a region close to the country's capital, Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation, meanwhile, are reportedly reluctant to let the Portuguese tactician go. It is said the association has tabled a R1.5 million-a-month offer to his representatives in a bid to keep Peseiro in the helm until 2026.
However, with it claimed that a potential deal is being negotiated while the coach also sifts through other offers he has on the table, former Nigeria striker Segun Odegbami believes the AFCON silver medallist is not capable of leading the side to continental glory.

"For 22 months, he [Peseiro] did his best for Nigeria, but his best was obviously not good enough when the team was preparing to go for AFCON," he said on Arise TV, via Soccernet.ng.
"But through the four weeks of AFCON, there was relief because the team came up, started to do fairly well and got to the finals.
"He was handsomely rewarded in such a way that he created history. I don't think any coach in the history of football has ever been that lavishly rewarded not for coming first, but for coming second.
"Peseiro insisted that his mandate was to get to the semi-final of the AFCON. For some of us, that was not good enough. Our dream for Nigerian football is to be among the best in the world."
Odegbami went on to suggest that the role should be awarded to a manager who will enter such tournaments with grander objectives.
"So, when you have someone whose ambition is to get to the semi-finals of an African cup, definitely he does not get to that mark," he continued.
"As far as we are concerned, he has done well, he has served the country, delivered on his own personal mandate, and has been handsomely rewarded.
"He should just take his largesse to his country and enjoy himself because, for where we are heading, he cannot deliver from what we saw at the AFCON."
