Super Eagles boss 'not scared' of Bafana Bafana

Super Eagles boss Finidi George has insisted he carries no fear ahead of his side's crunch clash against Bafana Bafana.

The two titans of African football will go head to head in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday night, in what the Nigeria boss has described to be a "must-win game".

Hugo Broos' charges are in third position in Group C with three points after two matches, while the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finalists occupy fourth spot after drawing their first two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

George, who officially replaced Jose Peseiro as the side's permanent manager in April, has revealed that two of his players had slight issues ahead of the encounter, but insisted his team now has a clean bill of health.

"[Samuel] Chukwueze had a knock, [Chidozie] Awaziem had a stomach problem, but all players are fit and ready to go," George said at a pre-match press conference on Thursday night, per Soccernet.ng.

The side is also without star striker Victor Osimhen, who was previously ruled out due to injury.

Despite missing some star names, the Super Eagles boss' focus is still on coming out of the game victorious and three points richer.

"We have trained well, the players understand the task. I trust my players and their quality. It's a must-win game.

"I don't have anything to prove. I am relaxed, it is football. I want to win, I understand the tasks.

"I am not scared, I played to the highest and we are going for a win tomorrow."
