Club confirms: We will not sign Neymar despite rumours

A club has now addressed rumours suggesting they are interested in a move for Neymar, confirming they will not be signing the Brazilian star.

The former FC Barcelona attacker joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal in August last year, but did not have the best of first seasons, making just five appearances for his new side.

This came as a result of the player damaging his knee ligaments while playing in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier during October last year, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Reports had suggested that Neymar could have the opportunity to return his home country, with Brasileiro Serie A outfit SE Palmeiras said to be interested in signing the Selecao superstar.

However, the club's president, Leila Pereira, has now publicly denied this, alluding that the former Paris Saint-Germain No. 10 would prove to be too costly for the side.

"Will you help me pay Neymar? If you help me pay Neymar, I'll think about it, you know?" Pereira said, per GOAL

"Jokes aside, let's be serious. If Palmeiras got to this point, it's because we worked very hard.

"Football is no joke; you're playing with the passion of millions of people.

"I'm not going to leave horrible legacies for Palmeiras to pay for. I'm not going to do anything crazy.

"We have won all the titles with our squad. It is strong, I trust our team."

Palmeiras have been crowned domestic champions for the past two years, and are currently int he race to secure a hat-trick of league triumphs.
