LATEST: New Frontrunner for England Job 'Revealed'

A new frontrunner for the vacant England managerial role has reportedly been revealed.

Representatives from the Football Association are in talks with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who is now in pole position to land the job, according to Sky Sports.

The German tactician has previously been linked with the job, along with Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola.

The FA is understood to have been willing to wait until the Spaniard's contract with Manchester City expires at the end of this season to appoint him to the role.

However, it is now claimed that they are looking to hasten their efforts to replace Southgate following England's shock 2-1 defeat to Greece in the UEFA Nations League last week.

Interim manager Lee Carsley, who has been in interim charge of the Three Lions since July, has expressed his desire to return to the U21 set-up.

As such, Tuchel has seemingly become the Association's preferred candidate to take charge on a permanent basis.

Additionally, it has been suggested that the former Chelsea manager's appointment could be confirmed soon if negotiations run smoothly.

The FA is thought to be looking for a coach with a proven track record of winning trophies, and the German tactician fits the bill.

He has won league titles during his time at Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The 51-year-old also won the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup during his stint at Chelsea.
