Lionel Messi's bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, has expressed his frustration after being informed that he can no longer protect the Inter Miami star on the pitch.
Cheuko made headlines during the early days of Messi's arrival in the United States in July 2023, as the imposing bodyguard was seen accompanying the football icon everywhere.

Interestingly, his role extended beyond safeguarding the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner off the pitch—he also took action on the field.
On multiple occasions, Cheuko has been spotted sprinting onto the pitch during Inter Miami matches to prevent pitch invaders from reaching Messi.
However, he has now revealed that he has been instructed to stop intervening in such situations.
"They don't allow me to be on the field anymore," Cheuko told ESPN.
*"I worked in Europe for seven years, covering Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and only six people invaded the pitch.
"I came to the USA, and in just 20 months, 16 people have already done so. There's a huge problem here—let me help Messi."*
An Inter Miami spokesperson reportedly told ESPN that the decision came directly from the club, not Major League Soccer (MLS). However, Cheuko still retains his job.
The MLS also clarified that its protocols regarding team security personnel have not changed. Multiple clubs have designated security staff stationed near team dugouts on the field.
