With Jose Mourinho having recently undergone surgery, his club Fenerbahce have confirmed the latest on the coach's medical operation.

On Saturday, 21 December, there were reports that Mourinho flew out of Istanbul, Turkey, to have a medical procedure in Portugal after his side drew 1-1 away to Eyupspor last Friday.

This sparked concerns about the Portuguese tactician's health, but he took to his Instagram to explain the situation.

Speaking in an Instagram video, Mourinho said:"Happy Christmas and thank you for so many messages. Wishing everyone a happy holiday season. May this time be full of love and happiness for you and your families.

"For those of you who have shown concern, I can confirm reports of my surgery have been greatly exaggerated, it's just a quick and minor procedure. I will resume training on the first day back from the holidays, as always.

"I've never missed a session in 25 years, and I don't intend to start now."

Now, Fenerbahce have confirmed that Mourinho's operation was successful on Monday.

In a statement posted on X, the Turkish club wrote:"Get Well Soon Jose Mourinho

"Our Technical Director Jose Mourinho had a successful gallbladder operation in his country Portugal today. We wish our coach, who is in very good health, a speedy recovery."

The Turkish Super Lig is now on a Christmas break, and Fenerbahce's next game will only be on 5 January 2025.
