African-born Germany star accused of age-cheating

An African-born Germany star has now reportedly been accused of age-cheating.

Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko was born in Yaounde, Cameroon, before heading to Germany in 2014, where he was adopted.

His adoption is said to have emerged in 2022, but an investigation into age-cheating has now been launched with doubts as to the legitimacy of Moukoko's actual age.

It has been claimed that the forward, who was part of the Germany squad that went to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is in fact 22 years old and not 18.

According to Austrian publication Laola1, Moukoko's adoptive father has sent a birth certificate to a journalist showing a birth year of 2000 with the name Yousouffa Mohamadou, which is attributed to the Dortmund attacker.

The report adds that suspicion was raised when Moukoko had partners who were much older than him when he was younger.

After he burst on to the scene in BVB's junior ranks in 2017, the German FA rejected any suggestion of foul play with the player's documentation, which claim that his birth date is 20 November 2004.

"The DFB has already had a number of intensive discussions with Borussia Dortmund at various levels," an official statement to BILD read, per the Daily Mail.

"At the DFB's request for careful consideration of the facts, those responsible at Borussia Dortmund always point to the authenticity of the papers and documents, which are also known by DFB.

"There is therefore no doubt about the correctness of the age of the player. In this matter, the DFB relies on the details of the home club of the player."

Cameroon also recently caused a stir in the world of age-cheating when 21 of the country's 30-man U17 national side failed age tests.

New replacements were immediately drafted in, but there was even more embarrassment for the African nation as 11 of the additions also failed the age tests.
