Mane helps Bayern end four-game winless run

Bayern Munich ended a four-match winless run in the Bundesliga with a commanding 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening.

The Bavarians made just two changes from the loss against FC Augsburg before the international break, where Benjamin Pavard and Marcel Sabitzer slotted in.

Bayern didn't need long to settle and had the perfect start on three minutes when Leroy Sane brought a cross from Jamal Musiala under control and fired into the bottom-corner.

With Leverkusen in search of a quick reply, Bayern nabbed a second goal inside 17 minutes where Musiala turned home a reverse pass from Thomas Muller from the right of the area.

Callum Hudson-Odoi nearly gave Leverkusen a lifeline minutes later with a snap shot from a clever worked move that didn't trouble Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at all.

Bayern extended their advantage a little over five minutes to halftime when Musiala robbed Moussa Diaby of possession and teed-up Sadio Mane for a smartly executed finish past Lukas Hradecky.

Two introductions from the visitors ahead of the resumption saw Jeremie Frimpong removed for Charles Aranguiz before Piero Hincapie filled in for Mitchel Bakker.

Musiala was involved again over 55 minutes played where Dayot Upamecano helped his delivery in the box onto Mane to complete his brace, but after a review it was disallowed due to a foul in the build-up.

Bayern didn't stop to look for more goals minutes later as Sane sliced a cleverly angled ball from Musiala high and wide of the initial target with the defence extremely unsettled.

The Bavarians ultimately made it four following a quiet spell as Muller pounced on a defensive lapse from Leverkusen in the last eight minutes and slotted home with ease.

This victory helped the defending champions to regain ground with the early pace-setters at the top of the table, whilst Leverkusen's dismal start to the campaign continues.
