Bundesliga match report Eintracht Frankfurt v Bayern Munich 05 August 2022

Bayern maintained the same personnel that did duty over RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup which headlined high-profile signing Sadio Mane from Premier League giants Liverpool.

It didn't take the dominant German champions long to hit the ground running after a long-range free-kick from Joshua Kimmich bounced adrift Kevin Trapp and into the net five minutes in.

The marauding fullback turned from scorer to provider five minutes later when he delivered a corner-kick into the area which the host failed to clear and allowed Benjamin Pavard to stab home.

Eintracht were all over the place towards the midway period of the first half and were fortunate not to have conceded a third when Thomas Muller tucked a cutback from Mane against the post.

Subsequently, the third came on the half-hour mark after Mane positioned perfectly and headed home Serge Gnabry's pin-point cross from the byline.

Bayern surged forward again ten minutes before halftime and snatched a fourth after Jamal Musiala redirected a ball from Muller which had bounced off Trapp into a gaping net.

Gnabry went and worsened the home side's quest three minutes to the break when he finished off a flick on from Muller in the area.

As expected the host showed reinforcements from the dugout, as Kolo Muani, Christopher Lenz and Kristijan Jakic came on in the hope to effect change on the contest in the second half.

The additions brought a sense of urgency to the home team earlier at the restart with Filip Kostic causing a few issues out wide.

Eintracht did pull a goal back midway through the second period when Muani stole possession from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer before rolling into an empty net.

The Bavarians restored advantage in the closing stages after Musiala charged on a surging pass from Leroy Sane and finished with aplomb.

Bayern introduced new signing Matthijs De Ligt late on and he nearly went on to grab a goal on debut but was aborted, as it finished 6-1.
