Bayern Munich missed the chance to open a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga following a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig on Friday evening.
The Bavarians handed a debut to goalkeeper Yann Sommer while Matthijs De Ligt, Leon Goretzka and Eric Choupo-Moting were also in the starting line-up.
Bayern did carve out the first chance on eight minutes where a floated cross from the left of the area by Serge Gnabry took a deflection and bounced off the upright.
The defending champions still enjoyed the better of the opening spell and a free-kick in a threatening area nearly saw the deadlock broken, but Leipzig managed to hold their lines.
Leipzig, though, seemed to have gone behind after the half-hour mark when Goretzka headed in Benjamin Pavard's cross, but it was disallowed for offside following a pitch-side review.
Nonetheless, the visitors were in front seven minutes later after Choupo-Moting nudged a yard of space and steered a far post entry from Gnabry beyond goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.
The Bavarians didn't manage to add to their tally but surrendered advantage over five minutes from halftime as Marcel Halstenberg pounced a knockdown across the face of goal to slot past Sommer.
This particular encounter now had the host come forward around the midway quarter of the second period and saw Dani Olmo bring Sommer to work with a low snap shot.
Bayern looked to add more firepower up front and introduced Kingsley Coman ahead of Jamal Musiala, whilst Timo Werner came on for Emil Forsberg.
Though with time running out Leipzig were close to the win when Tmo Werner found a yard of space left of the area before firing high and wide of target.
Dutch defender De Ligt was inches away to giving the visitors a second with a smart header from a tight angle, but Blaswich parried and the match finished all square.
